Privacy
pdf2takeoff processes your drawings on your own computer and never uploads them. This page lists everything the app and this website do collect, which is very little, and who handles it.
Who we are
pdf2takeoff is free, open-source software made by Flowtivity on the Gold Coast, Australia. Questions about this page: contact Flowtivity.
Your drawings
Every PDF, image, scan and DXF you open is read and rendered inside your browser tab, and every measurement, count and comparison runs there too. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, and we never see your drawings or your quantities. Exports download straight to your computer.
What stays on your device
- Your takeoff (markups and scales), saved in your browser's storage and keyed by a fingerprint of the file, so a refresh brings it back. The drawing itself is not stored.
- Your tool presets, columns and similar settings.
- Whether you have already seen or dismissed one of the app's prompts.
None of this is sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
Website analytics
This website counts page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: which pages are viewed, the referring site, the country, the browser type and page speed. It uses no cookies and does not identify you, and it never sees your drawings or what you do in the app. The app itself has no telemetry.
Sign-up forms
If you type your email into an "AI counting is coming" form, it is sent to Flowtivity's mailing list on flowtivity.ai, tagged with the page you signed up on. You confirm by email before anything is sent, you get Flowtivity's Friday digest, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Flowtivity handles your email under its privacy policy.
Links to Flowtivity
Links from pdf2takeoff to flowtivity.ai, such as the offer to book a consult, are tagged utm_source=pdf2takeoff so Flowtivity knows you came from here. Nothing about your drawing is included.
Downloads some features need
A few features download code or data the first time you use them: the OCR language pack for reading scales, the ONNX runtime and symbol model for the ML detector (from jsDelivr and GitHub), and the HEIC decoder for iPhone photos. These are ordinary downloads to your computer. The services that serve them see a normal web request, such as your IP address, but nothing from your drawing.
The optional AI count
The AI count, available from the command line today, sends one rendered page image to the AI provider you choose, with your own key, and only when you run it. Point it at a local model and nothing leaves your machine. If you connect an AI agent to the pdf2takeoff MCP server, the server runs locally, but the agent sends what it reads to its own model provider.
Hosting
The website is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request details such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site.
